UEGF Research Prize - Call for Nominations 2010!

UEGF EU NewsDear Colleagues! As you might be aware the UEGF Research Prize 2009 will be awarded this year to Professsor J. F. Colombel, France and it will be formally presented during the Plenary Session on Monday, November 23, 2009 on occasion of GASTRO 2009 UEGW/WCOG (08:00 a.m. in room S1/2/3 at the ExCel, London).

It is with great pleasure that we call for applications for the
UEGF Research Prize 2010
which will be presented at next years UEGW in Barcelona, 23 – 27, October 2010.
The prize of € 100.000 will be awarded for excellence in basic science, translational or clinical research and the recipient must be able to demonstrate that their work has had an impact in its field and its quality has been recognised internationally. The recipient will have produced a substantial body of basic science, translational or clinical research in a focussed area of gastroenterology, hepatology or related disciplines.

The recipient of the prize shall be a senior well established active researcher, leading a substantial research group and the work will have been conducted predominantly in Europe. The work should have been supported by substantial peer reviewed grants through internationally recognised research councils, research charities or industrial partners. This prize is aimed at researchers at the height of their active research career rather than those who have done previous excellent research. One major criterion is the standard of the best 10 publications by the researcher over the last 5 years.

In order to apply for this prize the application documents (see attached) should be sent to the UEGF Secretariat by May 9, 2010 at the latest. The form can also be downloaded at www.uegf.org
.The application package must be submitted as one PDF document, hard copies are not accepted. Please do not send applications which exceed a maximum size of 10MB. In order to guarantee that your submission was successful, UEGF will acknowledge the receipt of each application via return email.

UEGF will accept self-nominations or nomination through a national society and/or UEGF member society
